Note: Gate.io is ceasing support for users in the United States (amongst other countries) as of 4/10/22. They will be permanently shutting down user accounts in unsupported countries on 4/30/22.
You can connect your Gate.io account to TaxBit with an API Key! Please follow the below steps to generate your API Key.
Once you are logged in to your Gate.io account, navigate to the API Management page.
Please Note: If you haven't yet, Gate.io will prompt you to set up multiple authentication when creating your API. Please do so by going to your security settings and add in either your mobile number or Google Authenticator.
Additionally, the Gate.io Integration will only sync your spot and transfer history at this time. If you are able to generate a PnL (Profit and Loss) file from Gate.io it can be added to your TaxBit account. Only Plus and Pro subscription users will be able to have PnL files processed for them by emailing the file to support@taxbit.com.
1. Hover your mouse over your profile image in the top-right corner.
2. Select API Management.
3. Click on the "APIv4 Keys" tab on the left side.
4. Select +Create New API Key.
5. Fill out your API Key details in the following fields.
a. Fill out your account Remark. This can be anything you wish to label it as. For example: Since this is for your TaxBit account, you can name it "TaxBit."
b. Check all options off for Permissions. You'll then select "Read Only" to the right of each permission that is checked.
c. You can leave the Whitelist IP blank. TaxBit does not provide a static IP that can be used here.
d. Once the above steps are set up, go ahead and click “Confirm & Create.”
6. You'll be prompted to fill the following Security Verification before getting your API credentials.
a. Enter in the Fund password associated with your account.
b. Select the 2FA Authentication of your choice. In this example, we have SMS Verification selected.
c. Since we have SMS Verification selected in the prior step, we'll want to make sure to select "Get a verification code" in the box. Once the code is received, input the code in the box.
d. Select "OK."
7. You'll then get a popup allowing you to view your newly created API credentials. This is where you'll locate your Gate.io API Key and Secret.
a. You’re able to view your API Key. Document the Key for connecting to TaxBit later, and/or copy the key to enter into the Gate.io modal if you already have TaxBit open.
b. You’ll also see your Secret Key. Document the Secret for connecting to TaxBit later, and/or copy the key to enter into the Gate.io modal if you already have TaxBit open.
Once you have your API Key, API Secret, and API Passphrase you can complete the connection process in TaxBit by selecting the exchange under Add Sources > Search Sources > Search and select Gate.io > Hit Next > Fill out the fields in your TaxBit account with the information from Gate.io > Select "Link Exchange"
Once the connection has been established, you'll go ahead and hit "Sync". From there, that will begin the process of bringing your transactions into your TaxBit account.
