TaxBit provides integration support for the Uniswap protocol. Uniswap users are able to access and download FREE 8949 forms for their Uniswap activity. The integration supports V1, V2 and V3 transactions from the protocol.
Our integration reads smart contracts from the blockchain so all Uniswap data will be available through your public ETH wallet address(es). In order to connect your wallet(s), please follow the steps below.
- Make sure you connect all of your wallets and exchanges
In order to ensure we have a complete view of your cost basis, please ensure that you connect all of your existing data sources via the “Add Transactions” page. Within your TaxBit account, go to the 'Add Transactions' tab on the left-hand side. Ensure you connect all centralized exchanges (via API or CSV), as well as DeFi wallets.
- Connect your ETH wallet(s) with Uniswap activity.
Click on the "Add Wallet" button.
Once you've chosen your wallet's blockchain, you will need to fill in the 'Public Key' public wallet address. You'll also add a label, which is the “Nickname” you would like to call the wallet. The label can be anything you want, e.g. "My ETH Wallet" or "Uniswap".
After you have filled in the "Nickname" and "Wallet Address" fields, you can click the "Connect Wallet" button.
Once the wallet has been successfully connected, you'll be able to see it on the "Add Transactions" tab. You can also pull up the "My Transactions" page to make sure all your transactions have been loaded from your wallet.
This should reflect all of your transactions through the Uniswap protocol, as well as on your ETH wallet more broadly.
- Check your missing cost basis
Once all of your data has been added (see above section) you can start to check for missing cost basis! Cost basis is the original value or purchase price of an asset for tax purposes (in our case, cryptocurrency is the asset).
Missing cost basis occurs when you dispose of an asset, but there is no record of you acquiring that asset. For more information on how to manage missing cost basis, check out TaxBit's article: "What does 'Unknown Gains' mean?" and our library of Missing Cost Basis articles.
- Download tax forms
Once you’ve successfully connected your wallet(s) and resolved missing cost basis issues, please navigate to the “Taxes” page to download your free 8949 form.
