Despite our efforts to make uploading CSVs as seamless as possible, occasionally we see issues with CSVs not uploading. Even though we have automated CSV converters built for some integrations, there is still the chance that a CSV fails to import. Sometimes the cause for CSV failures is as simple as modifying the original export before uploading or the wrong headers on a manually formatted CSV.

How do I know if my upload failed?
If you are uploading a CSV that we have automated CSV converter for, you'll receive an error like this if it fails to upload:
Another indication that your file didn't fully import is displayed on the Sources page of your account. From there, you'll scroll down to the section where all your CSVs are. If a CSV file wasn't completely uploaded to your account you'll see "Partially Synced" in red for that file. If you hover your mouse over the "View Details" you can see the amount of transactions that were synced versus the amount that failed to import.
Please Note: If your CSV partially uploads, there's not a way to generate a partial error report.
Finally, if you're uploading a TaxBit formatted CSV and it's failing to upload you'll see a screen like this appear:
You'll be notified that the CSV file was not uploaded to your account, and then below you'll find detailed information about what is wrong with the file that you tried to import.
What can I do about a CSV converter that is failing?
In these situations, it's really important to verify a couple of things if you're uploading a CSV that we have a converter for:
- You're uploading the exact CSV exports from automated platforms
- You didn't make any modifications to the file before submitting it to be uploaded
- You're uploading the correct file format. The upload needs to be specifically a CSV file not numbers, xlsx, etc.
- You aren't trying to import a TaxBit formatted CSV
If you've verified this information and the source of the converter is from a TaxBit Network integration, you can export the Error Report and send it to our Customer Experience Team.
To export the Error Report you'll hit "Manage" next to the CSV that partially synced:
You'll then select "Download Error Report"
In the meantime, if you don't want to wait for the converter issue to be resolved or your file is from a Self Service integration, you can manually format your CSV. The other option is to manually add the transactions to your account.
What can I do about a TaxBit formatted CSV file failing to import?
If you're uploading a TaxBit formatted CSV, verify that:
- You aren't trying to import a file that we have a converter for through the wrong upload page
- You follow our guide for manually formatting CSVs
- You're uploading the correct file format. The upload needs to be specifically a CSV file not numbers, xlsx, etc.
Once you make the corrections to your CSV based off of what the error page suggests, you can hit "Upload CSV Again".
If you still have issues importing your file, you can manually add the transactions to your account.
