Here at TaxBit, we understand that the exchanges you trade on contain sensitive, personal data. Thankfully, your exchanges recognize this as well! The vast majority of API keys, by default, only allow "read-only access". What this means is that we can sync in your existing trades, but we cannot make any updates to your account or any of your data.
We've created detailed, step-by-step guides that will walk you through setting up any of your API integrations. For the few exchanges that have more than read-only permissions on their default keys (such as Binance), we've explained how to update your permissions to ensure that TaxBit only receives read-only permissions.
Similarly, when you connect a wallet using its public key, we are only able to view that wallet’s transaction history. Without your private key, there is no way for us to change transactions, which means there’s no way for us to move crypto out of your wallet.
Your privacy and security are of the utmost importance to us.
