Keeping your exchang API's synced and up to date is a critical part of accurate tax reporting. In this article, we will walk through what troubleshooting options you have for resolving an exchange API sync error.

- FAQ: How will I know if my exchange is unable to connect, or just failing to sync? If your exchange connects, you will get a confirmation message and a notification letting you know that a sync has started. If your exchange is not connecting, you will remain on the screen where you type in your credentials and you will not receive a confirmation message.
While the majority of the time these syncs will go through without issue, you may receive a failed sync notification from time to time.
Although less common, it's possible you will see a notificaion stating a sync is already in progress that has been running for an abnormally long time (longer than 2 hours).
The quickest way to troubleshoot an exchange that is not syncing properly (for both a failed sync, and a sync that is running for more than two hours) is to remove the excahnge API integration, and then re-integrate the exchange with your TaxBit account. This process generally takes just a few minutes but if you found the process challenging it may be best to reach out to the Support team for further support.
The first step in this process is to remove the exchange. You can do so by selecting Add Transactions and then selecting the exchange you want to remove.
Once you have select the exchange, you will have the option to remove the exchange.
After you remove the exchange you can proceed with adding the exchange back into your TaxBit account, and another sync will automatically begin.
If re-connecting your exchange does not work, then it's possible that your permissions are not set up correctly on the API that was created on your exchange. In this case, the permissions can be different on each exchange, but generally speaking the permissions should be limited to Read Only and allow us to see your transaction data.
