Disclaimer: There is a known issue where fiat transactions are being flagged and appearing in the Resolution Center. For example: USD Transfer Ins that are being flagged. These flags can be ignored because they shouldn't be flagged in the first place. Our team is currently working on a fix to implement in order to resolve this issue.
To help with resolving missing cost basis flags within your account, TaxBit developed the Resolution Center, dedicated to guiding you through resolving specific issues that may be causing missing cost basis. The Resolution Center currently is able to identify and help users with resolving five issues:
- Integration Issues
- Possible Duplicates
- Transfer In Transactions Without a Transfer Out
- Linking Transfer In Transactions with a Matching Transfer Out
- Unknown Assets and Prices
Where do I find the Resolution Center?
To access the Resolution Center, you’ll want to start by logging into your TaxBit account.
Once you’ve logged into your account, you can find the Resolution Center page on the left side of your screen.
How does the Resolution Center work?
If you have missing cost basis transactions that the Resolution Center can help guide you through resolving, they will appear on the Resolution Center page. As seen below:
Please Note: When you are working through the identified issues in your account, you want to start at the top and work your way down the list. If you work on the issues in the order that they are presented, you may resolve other issues down the line.
To begin working through the Resolution Center, you’ll want to start by hitting “Resolve” on the right side of the first identified issue on the page.
After clicking “Resolve” you’ll be given two options: Review and Resolve.
Review: This provides you with the ability to review the transactions identified with an issue on your Transactions page. Filters on your Transactions page will already be applied for easy visibility. For example, if you have transactions identified as “Possible Duplicates” and then you select “Review”, you’ll be directed to your Transactions page. There you can take a look at the two specific transactions in question. Being able to review the transactions in question will help you determine if you want to continue further resolving the issue.
Resolve: Resolve is dependent upon which missing cost basis issue you’re working through. If you’re working through Possible Duplicates, your options to resolve the issue are to review any CSVs that you have connected to your account or you have the ability to remove one of the transactions so there’s no longer duplicates. If you are working through resolving Integration Issues, your options are to review the integrations you have connected to your account or you have the ability to merge transactions within your account.
What if I receive an error when trying to resolve an issue in the Resolution Center?
Let’s say you receive an error message like the one in the screenshot below when you’re trying to resolve issues within the Resolution Center:
The workarounds for this error would be to:
- Try going to the Transactions page and making the necessary edits you need there.
- Try to remove and manually add the transaction you are trying to edit.
If you have any issues with the workarounds suggested and the issue involves a TaxBit Network integration, then you may reach out to our Customer Experience Team. From there, our team will be able to look further into the error that you’re experiencing.
What if I still have missing cost basis transactions in my account?
If you still have missing cost basis transactions in your account after working through all the suggestions within the Resolution Center, you’ll see a message like this:
This is because the Resolution Center at this time only can help with resolving missing cost basis issues that are caused by duplicate transactions, issues with integrations, and transfer transaction issue. If you still have missing cost basis flags in your account, it’s likely that the cause of missing cost basis is related to other issues that the Resolution Center doesn’t support. We recommend taking a look at the following guides to help you further:
